is a septic tank inspection required in North Carolina for a VA loan?

Hi! A septic tank inspection is NOT required on a VA loan in North Carolina unless the appraisal notes an issue that needs to be explored further or if the Sales Contract states that one is to be done.

If the appraiser things there is a problem, based on visual, he can require you have an inspection. if Seller can't provide evidence that it has been emptied within the last 5 years, I advise my Veteran borrowers to seriously consider having this inspection paid for by the seller. They just might go for it. Otherwise, you should consideR. It's a few humdred dollars well spent.

A Pest inspection is required by the Va in VA insured mortgage loans. A septic tank, I would expect, to be viewed by a V A appraiser as he or she would anything as part of the property...for any visual defectsand if possibly requiring repair, etc. They are almost always not licensed home inspectors but they do there best to point out primarily what couldbe a "safety issue."

VA does not require a septic tank inspection, but it could be required by your lender, your real estate brokerage, or by the state.. Here in AZ, Septic tank inspection/certifications are required on every transaction. But this question should be answered by your real estate agent.. try calling them.. I'm a Broker here in Scottsdale AZ and I only lend in Arizona. If you or someone you know is looking for financing options, feel free to contact me or pass along my information. William J. Only if the appraiser states that there may be a problem or concern.
